Lamont Smith

Head Coach

Coach Lamont Smith is an esteemed basketball coach with an impressive track record of success in both youth sports and collegiate coaching

LSBA, founded in 2019 by Lamont Smith, has seen tremendous growth since its inception. LSBA was created with the vision of providing a platform for youth basketball players to maximize and advance their skills. Our goal is to grow the game, make a positive impact, and serve the community.

As the head coach at the University of San Diego, he led the Toreros to remarkable improvement in win totals over three seasons, culminating in an impressive 42 wins, including a noteworthy 20-win mark in 2018. Under his guidance, the team achieved a 4th place finish in WCC play and earned a spot in the College Insider Postseason Tournament in 2018, marking their first postseason appearance in four seasons.

Coach Smith’s emphasis on defense was evident, with the team ranking 41st nationally in points allowed per game, 5th in 3PT FG% defense, and 46th in field-goal percentage defense in 2018.

He played a crucial role in the development of seven All-WCC selections, including Olin Carter III, a three-time All-WCC selection and the program’s second all-time leader in 3-point field goals made.
